5 Ingredient Reese's Bars

Everyone likes Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, right? Well what if you could make your own...and they'd still taste the same, maybe even better? There are LOTS of Reese's bar recipes and I was very determined to make the best and easiest one. I was searching frantically over the Internet for the perfect Reese's bars. After looking at many recipes, this one is definitely my favorite.

The Ingredients

I made my bars crunchy and didn't smash the graham crackers all the way.
It's time to melt some chocolate!
My first successful attempt at melting chocolate.  The secret?
Melt it in the microwave and don't worry about the double broiler!
All things are possible with God...including not stuffing yourself with these bars.

If only I had white chocolate in the house, then they could be white chocolate Reese's bars. =0

Ingredients:
2 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs
1 cup creamy peanut butter
1 cup butter, melted
2 cups semisweet chocolate chips (or white chocolate)
2 3/4 cups confectioner's sugar

Directions
1. In a medium bowl, stir together graham cracker crumbs, confectioners' sugar, peanut butter, and butter. Press firmly into the bottom of a 9x13 inch pan.
2. Melt chocolate chips in the microwave, stirring occasionally. Spread melted chocolate over the crumb crust.
3. Chill for about 5 minutes, then cut into bars before the chocolate is completely set, then chill until ready to serve.

My friend trying them for the very first time!
I think she liked them. =)
This recipe is so convenient you can make it almost anywhere, even in a dorm room or a hotel. All you have to do is buy the ingredients, chill it, and eat it. And remember, it ONLY takes 5 ingredients!!! Wow.

Black Bottoms

We ran out of cupcake liners, so my Mom
dug through the Christmas box and found these.
This was the very first recipe that I got from a magazine and actually made. I was so proud as I pulled it out of the oven and presented to my family a warm, gooey, chocolaty cupcake. The only problem was only 4/5 of the people in my family ate it... someday I'm gonna take Luke to a science lab and get his taste buds redone because he doesn't know what he's missing out on!!! Oh well, for now I will keep making recipes even if my brother doesn't decide to eat them. =)

The Ingredients
Time to multitask!  Photographing, stirring, and dumping the chocolate - ALL AT ONCE!

My cupcakes are ALWAYS half full, never half empty. =)
I have very disobedient cream cheese. I tell it to spread out and it just plops.
The only obedient one.

Ta Daaa!!!

I found this when I was looking through one of my Mom's old Woman's Day magazines for a school project. The recipe can be found here.

Applebee's Copycat Blondies

Surprisingly, blogging is quite fun! I dig out a recipe from my recipe book and get out the ingredients. Then I start pouring, measuring, and baking, along with taking pictures each step of the way. (You have no idea how dirty my camera gets while I'm baking. I clean it about every 5 minutes!) Then I put my creation in the oven and wait... then it's done! I upload the pictures to the computer and write something underneath, so you don't fall asleep. Then I  go searching for a victim to try it. Fun, right? Well even if you don't think so, I do. =)
The Ingredients.

Stir, stir, stir it up, stir! That's a Hershey's song just by some very remote chance you didn't know.
Come to my house Goldilocks, I have the perfect thing for you!
It's not too dark or too light, but it's just right.

I really like taking pictures outside,
just as long as a bird doesn't decide to do his business I'll be fine. =)

A very ladylike portion of ice cream.
I asked my dad if he wanted it,
but he said there wasn't enough ice cream on top!
I doubled this recipe and baked it in a 13x9 pan and it turned out fine. I got this recipe here. I really need to stop making her recipes, but they're just sooo good! I guess others agree with me because she has 7,084 members! Wow, that's a lot. Maybe I'll have that many someday...maybe. But for now I'll be perfectly content with the faithful 15 that I have. =)

The Real Red Velvet

Although you've probably seen red velvet cake at a bakery or grocery store, this is the real thing. We hardly ever buy red velvet cake because we've had the real thing, and once you've had that... there's no going back.  I know that red velvet cake has become rather faddish in the last few years, but this is an older recipe from my PA Grandma who has made this cake for a very LONG time (even before I was born), so pay close attention.

The Ingredients
1 bowl down 2 more to go.

Here comes the cake!!!

I borrowed my sister's trifold board so everything looks white and pretty for the background. Hopefully she won't notice any smudges or batter on the board. =)

The trio of bowls.
Just 2 more ingredients left!
Ingredients for the icing

It's so fluffy I'm gonna die!!!

Our friends enjoying some red velvet cake.

My patriotic Red Velvet Cake.
Ingredients:
FIRST STEP in BIG BOWL:
Mix 2 cups flour, 1 tsp. baking powder, 1 tsp. salt, and 1 tsp. cocoa
Mix these 4 ingredients together.
SECOND STEP in MEDIUM BOWL:
3/4 cup oil, 1 1/2 cups sugar, 2 eggs 1 oz. red food coloring
Cream oil and sugar, add eggs. Add food coloring, Mix well.
THIRD STEP in SMALL BOWL:
1 cup buttermilk, 1 tsp. baking soda
Combine buttermilk and baking soda.
FOURTH STEP:
Add second and third bowls alternately with the first.
1 tsp. vinegar, 1 tsp. vanilla.
Add vinegar and vanilla. Mix Well. Bake at 350F (175C) about 25-30 minutes.

Icing:
8oz of soft cream cheese, 1 stick of soft butter, 4 cups confectioner's sugar,  2 tsp. vanilla

Mix the cream cheese, stick of butter, and vanilla. Pour in the confectioner's sugar gradually till light and fluffy, (If desired add more sugar for sweeter icing.)

So, what do you think... are you going to be bold and try this recipe or just buy Costco's brand? Wouldn't you rather have the real thing instead of going with a cheap imitation??? I would make the cake...that's my opinion. =) I hope that's enough to convince you to make this wonderful thing....although it's probably not... or maybe it is!
